CELEBRATING THE CRAFT

Published by Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, SDC Journal is distributed to SDC Members nationwide and is available to industry constituents, theatre education programs, and the theatre-going public at large. LATEST ISSUE

Winter 2026

Vol. 14 | No. 1

The Winter 2026 issue includes a series of resonant conversations between colleagues: Leigh Silverman speaks with Sam Pinkleton about what it means to be a theatre worker, Mandy Moore talks with Al Blackstone about storytelling through dance, and Jaclynn Jutting moderates a roundtable discussion with emerging directors. In an expansive essay, Mary B. Robinson revisits the 1950s to explore how the blacklist and the House Un-American Activities Committee affected theatre artists, including some SDC Members. The columns feature Yo-EL Cassell, Seth Gordon, and Jesca Prudencio. The issue also includes a range of pieces from Union and Foundation leadership: a final letter from past President Evan Yionoulis, a conversation with newly elected President Michael John Garcés, reflections from Executive Director Laura Penn, and an interview with SDC Foundation Director Laura Peete.
