SDC COVID-19 Safety Protocol Review Process (Updated 9/1/22)

For All Companies (NEW!) :

  1. SDC has updated its COVID-19 Safety Protocol Guidelines in response to the current stage of the pandemic, CDC guidance, and recommendations from the SDC Expert Medical Advisory Board.
  2. The SDC COVID-19 Safety Plan Rider can be used by all companies not just those having 100% vaccination rates. Please review the updates that are outlined within the Rider.
  3. Employers and Members must sign the SDC COVID-19 Safety Plan Rider as part of the SDC contract, which requires the employer to affirm they have implemented the required layers of protection against the spread of COVID-19 in their workplace and are aware of SDC’s additional recommendations. This rider must be returned to SDC along with the appropriate contract.

If you are in touch with an employer and have questions about guidelines, work requests, or anything else, please reach out to SDC staff immediately at Contracts@SDCweb.org.

How to Protect Yourself and Others:

Although there are currently no vaccines available to protect against human coronavirus infection, you may be able to reduce your risk of infection by:

      • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
      • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
      • Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care
      • Cover mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away and wash your hands.
      • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces you touch.

For information about hand washing, see the CDC’s Clean Hands Save Lives website.

If you have cold-like symptoms, you can help protect others by staying home while you are sick; avoiding close contact with other people; covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze (then throwing the tissue in the trash and washing your hands); and cleaning and disinfecting objects and surfaces.

What to Do If You Suspect That You or a Loved One Have Contracted COVID-19:

Most people with coronavirus illness will recover on their own. Although there are no specific treatments for illnesses caused by coronaviruses, you can take the following actions to relieve symptoms if you are mildly sick:

      • Take pain and fever medications. Ask your pharmacist how they may interact with any medications you currently take. (Caution: The CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend not giving aspirin to children.)
      • Use a room humidifier or take a hot shower to help ease a sore throat and cough.
      • Drink plenty of liquids.
      • Stay home and rest.

If you are concerned about your symptoms, please contact your local healthcare provider. If you do not have a healthcare provider, the Actors Fund Friedman Health Center has set up a phone triage system in partnership with Mt. Sinai to assist members of the entertainment industry. Contact them at 212-930-7300 with questions.
