Byron Easley a recipient of the SDC Joe Callaway Award, is a New York City born and based choreographer. Broadway: Camelot (Lincoln Center), Slave Play (Antonyo Nomination). Off Broadway: Shakespeare’s Richard III at the Public Theater, Des Moines, for Theatre for a New Audience, Bed Wetter, at the Atlantic Theater, Slave Play, at New York Theater Workshop, The Bubbly Black Girl at City Center Encores, X: or, Betty Shabazz v. The Nation (Lucille Lortel Nomination), for the Acting Company, The Tempest, for the Classical Theater of Harlem, and Langston in Harlem, (Callaway and Audelco Awards). He recently choreographed the developmental workshop, The Ballad of Johnny & June, directed by Des McAnuff. Regional theater collaborations include, Steppenwolf Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Olney Theater (Helen Hayes nomination), Arena Stage (Helen Hayes nomination), Alliance Theater (Suzy Bass Awards), Cleveland Playhouse, Two River Theater, Hartford Stage, Trinity Repertory, and the Denver Center. As an educator, Byron serves a full-time associate arts professor at New York University/Tisch School of the Arts, where he co-heads the dance training for the musical theater students, in addition he has choreographed productions at Yale Repertory for the graduate program and the Juilliard School.
