As a director, artistic director, educator and actor, Vivienne has had the great fortune of collaborating with extraordinary theatre artists of many generations from all sides of the table. The proud recipient of the 2016 Zelda Fichandler Award, she is currently in her tenth season as Producing Artistic Director of PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. From 2005 to 2016 she served as Artistic Director of Chautauqua Theater Company and Conservatory in western New York. Besides the over thirty productions she helmed for those two companies, Vivienne has directed on and off-Broadway, regionally and educationally, at theatre’s including Roundabout, Red Bull, Studio Theatre, The Folger, Trinity Rep, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, The Old Globe (upcoming,) Detroit Public Theatre, Juilliard, UNC- Chapel Hill, and her alma mater, NYU’s Graduate Acting program. A champion of new play development, Vivienne has worked on over 50 new plays, started two successful on-going new play workshops and commissioning programs but is equally passionate about directing global classics and interdisciplinary work. Vivienne is also an OBIE award-winning actress and has worked on and Off-Broadway, in the West-End, in film and television and at many of the country’s most celebrated regional theaters.
