Guidelines from the Contract Affairs Department regarding impact to employment covered by an SDC contract during Covid-19

If your show has been cancelled:

  • You are entitled to all payments as they had accrued under your SDC contract at the date of cancellation. The amounts and timing vary based on your SDC agreement.
  • In most cases, a portion of your pension contribution is also required by the SDC Agreement and will be calculated based on the actual compensation paid.
  • If the cancellation occurred prior to first rehearsal, in most cases the employer is not required to remit the health contribution.
  • Contact SDC if you have any questions about payment.

If your show has been postponed:

  • You are entitled to all payments as they had accrued under your SDC contract at the date of postponement. The amounts and timing vary based on your SDC agreement.
  • If the postponement occurred prior to first rehearsal, pension and health will become due as of the rescheduled production dates.
  • If the postponement occurred after rehearsals had commenced, the full health contribution plus the pension contribution as calculated on the amount paid to date are required. The remainder of the pension contribution will become due as of the rescheduled production dates when additional compensation has been paid.
  • If the postponement turns into a cancellation, please see above.
  • Contact SDC if you have any questions about payment.

If you have a signed SDC contract for an upcoming production that has not been cancelled or postponed:

  • And you are no longer willing or able to travel due to a travel advisory or mandate posted by a governmental agency;
  • Or if you are seeking accommodation or work stoppage due to a preexisting condition that makes you or a loved one particularly vulnerable to Covid-19;
  • Or if you have questions or concerns about an employer’s safety protocols, which need to be reviewed by SDC prior to you providing any in-person services;
  • Please contact SDC. Each circumstance will be different and SDC can assess your contractual rights to help you make the best decision.

We want our Members to know that we are here for you in the event that you have any questions or concerns regarding your employment, so please do not hesitate to contact us.
