Joshua Bergasse

Joshua Bergasse started his career as a young dancer on Broadway before transitioning to choreography and direction. He is the Emmy Award-winning choreographer for NBC’s musical drama Smash, which will be coming to Broadway next season. Joshua received a Tony nomination as well as the Astaire Award for his choreography of the Broadway revival of On the Town. He also choreographed the Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as the Broadway revival of Gigi. Off-Broadway credits include the New York premiere of the re-imagined production of Smokey Joey’s Cafe; Sweet Charity, winning the prestigious Chita Rivera Award for excellence in choreography; Bombitty of Errors; and Cagney.  For Encores! at New York City Center Josh directed and choreographed I Married an Angel.  Other Encores! include Little Me; It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman!; The Golden Apple; and Annie Get Your Gun. For television Joshua choreographed multiple episodes of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance; Marvel’s Hawkeye for Disney+; Jessica Jones for Netflix; Monsterland for Hulu; A Capitol Fourth and Sinatra: Voice for a Century, both for PBS; and was director, producer and co-choreographer for The Kennedy Center 50th Anniversary Celebration on PBS. Joshua’s work has been seen at theatres and venues across the country including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, La Jolla Playhouse, Fifth Avenue, Barrington Stage Company (associate artist), Riverside, Chicago Lyric Opera, Drury Lane, Pioneer, TUTS, TOTS, Paper Mill Playhouse, Jacobs Pillow, AMTSJ, Ordway, Maltz Jupiter. Overseas productions include The Bodyguard and West Side Story in Japan; and The Spirit of Life and The Island in China.
