Seema Sueko

Seema Sueko is a freelance director and the 2022 recipient of the TCG Alan Schneider Director Award. She has directed across the U.S. on stages, outdoors, in generative non-traditional spaces, and in digital online formats for theaters, community organizations, and think tanks, including Arena Stage, Asolo Rep, Atlantic Council, Denver Center, Ford’s Theatre, Mixed Blood, Pasadena Playhouse, People’s Light, The Old Globe, Virginia Stage, and others. Previously, Seema served as Deputy Artistic Director of Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. where she directed new works and revivals and created the Theater Artists Marketplace, the Artistic Director Intensive, and the Power Play Summit. Prior to that, Seema served as Associate Artistic Director at The Pasadena Playhouse and Co-Founder and Executive Artistic Director at Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, where she developed Consensus Organizing for Theater and the Green Theater Choices Toolkit. Seema currently serves on the Executive Board of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and serves as President of the Board of Trustees of their Foundation (SDCF). Her work has been recognized by the NAACP San Diego, American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Asian Pacific American Friends of the Theater, California State Assembly, among others.
